At Bethesda we care for God’s creation, and we seek to live sustainably and responsibly. In 2023 we were delighted to be the first church in Gloucestershire to achieve the Gold Eco Church Award which reflects our desire build a just world and respond to the climate and nature crisis. We have an active Eco team and welcome new input into our eco group discussions.

Our environmental work is an integral part of our worshiping 
and community life:

• Regular eco group meetings to share ideas

• Bring and share LOAF lunches (Locally produced, Organically grown, Animal friendly, Fairly traded)

• Weekly walking group ‘Bethesda Backpackers’

• Hosting environmental discussion panels

• Community plant swap each year

• Sourcing green electricity from our own PV panels

• Achieving net zero

• Environment Sunday and other focused services

• Creating and maintaining planters

• Community film screenings of environmental films

• Local ‘Open Gardens’ event 

• Involvement with community orchards 

• Sharing ideas and input to other local churches on their eco journey
